Easy Kids Bulky Hat Crochet Pattern
Easy Kids Bulky Hat Crochet Pattern- if you can crochet a rectangle, you can make this cozy, ribbed hat!

When people think of beginner-friendly crochet and knitting projects, a scarf usually comes to mind. This hat is as easy to crochet as any scarf! It’s simply a rectangle that’s seamed at the side. Then, a running stitch is made to gather the top of the hat. Finally, a fluffy pom pom is added.
Easy Kids Bulky Hat Crochet Pattern

Yarn: #6 super bulky weight yarn (I used a combination of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick and Lion Brand Mandala Thick & Quick)
Crochet hook size: L11
Gauge: 8 single crochet = 4 inches
Also needed: Yarn needle
Size: Kids 6-10 years
Chain 19
1st Row: Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 18 single crochet.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn, working in back loops only, single crochet in each single crochet across.
(Note- this hat can be crocheted in a solid color, or in 3 different colors like I used)
For one solid color:
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 18 inches from beginning. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail onto a yarn needle and sew the ends together. Make a running stitch at the top of the hat and pull to gather. Knot securely and weave in ends. Make and attach pom pom.
For 3 colors:
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 12 inches from beginning. Switch colors and crochet for 3 inches, switch colors again and crochet for an additional 3 inches (the piece will measure 18 inches total). Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail onto a yarn needle and sew the ends together. Make a running stitch at the top of the hat and pull to gather. Knot securely and weave in ends. Make and attach pom pom.
